North Harford wins girls UCBAC swimming championship
JOPPATOWNE, Md. — North Harford High School captured the girls team championship at the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Swimming Championships, held Feb. 3 at Magnolia Middle School, finishing with 304.5 points behind strong relay performances and consistent scoring across individual events.
Harford Technical placed second with 268 points, followed by Bel Air (229), Elkton (214) and C. Milton Wright (203) to round out the top five in the team standings.
North Harford’s championship effort was anchored by relay success and depth scoring. The Hawks won both the 200-yard medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, earning crucial early and late points. Jade Andrews was a major contributor, placing second in the 500 freestyle and swimming on the winning freestyle relay. Sophia Bonincontri competed on both winning relays and added a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly, while Scarlett Sauer scored points in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle and swam on the title-clinching relay. Ava Sealy added important finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.
Harford Technical’s second-place finish was driven by balance across strokes and relays. Ella La Fleur placed second in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and anchored the team’s second-place 200 freestyle relay. Alina Barcikowski contributed top-five finishes in the 200 and 100 freestyle, while Amelia South added points in the 200 individual medley and swam on multiple scoring relays.
Bel Air finished third behind standout performances from Brynn Raedeke, who won the 100 freestyle and placed second in the 200 individual medley, and Lydia White, who scored heavily with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle. Avery Alliger also added points in the 500 freestyle and helped the Bobcats place second in the 400 freestyle relay.
Elkton placed fourth with several dominant individual performances. Carolyn Pennington won both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, accounting for a large portion of the team’s points. Madalyn Estep added two individual victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and also swam on Elkton’s winning 400 freestyle relay, helping solidify the Elks’ position in the standings.
C. Milton Wright rounded out the top five with steady scoring across multiple events. Ella Seifert placed in the top three of both the 50 and 100 freestyle, Libby Fischer contributed points in the 200 and 500 freestyle, and Teagan McEndree added scoring finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.
